Meet our Pets!

This week in nursery, we have been learning about pets. We have talked about how we can care for pets and keep them happy. Some of the children brought their pets into nursery to meet all their friends. We met……..

Squeaky the rabbit

Gypsy the puppy,

Fluffy the baby bunny,

Snowy the hamster,

a baby turtle,

Ratty the rat,

Basil the chinchilla,

and a guinea pig called Love Heart.

We enjoyed stroking the pets and learning more about them.

This half term, our role play area looks like a vet's surgery. We are very good at role playing and pretending to bring in our pets to see the vet.

This week in PE we have been doing Yoga. We tried really hard to learn some Yoga positions. We now know how to do the river, aeroplane, rock, mountain, plank and boat positions.

We have also finished our sea creature display. We hope you like it.

We have been learning about Sea Creatures!

Our theme for this week has been Sea Creatures and we have learnt lots about dolphins, whales, jelly fish, crabs, sharks, sea horses, octopus and many more. We started work creating an Under the Sea display and we are looking foward to showing it to you when it's finished!!

In our Knowledge and Understanding of the World lessons we have been experimenting to see which objects float and which sink. We enjoyed testing lots of different items in the classroom. We found that the heavy objects sunk to the bottom of the water and the light objects floated!!

We have been enjoying the sunny weather this week and have spent lots of time outside.

We have been enjoying having snack time outside.

and because we have all been so fantastic this week, we all joined in with golden time which was spent outside blowing bubbles!!

Fire fighters!

We have been learning about how fire fighters help us. We watched fireman Sam and read lots of books to help us learn about what fire fighters do.


We made a fire engine out of a large cardboard box.

We were fantastic at role playing and pretending to be fire fighters and we built fire hoses out of building blocks.

We spoke about how to keep safe if there is a fire and how to prevent a fire and used these ideas in our role play.

''Hello, this is the fire fighter, please make sure you call 999 if there is another fire and switch your smoke alarm on!''

We even tried on a real firefighter helmet.

Well done nursery children, you have learnt lots about fire fighters this week and you have done lots of fantastic role play!

Shapes and mark making in nursery!

This week we have been doing lots of writing activities…..

We are getting really good at writing our names and we love using our new whiteboards and pens. Our letter of the week has been ‘n’ and we now know what sound it makes and have been practising writing it lots.

We have also enjoyed some messy mark making in the shaving foam which was great fun. We tried hard to make shapes and write our names in it. We also use the sand trays to practice writing the first letter of our names and the letter of the week.

In our numeracy lesson we looked to see what shapes we could see in the classroom. We had some really good ideas and found lots!
We found rectangles and squares….

And lots of circles…

Another fun week in nursery!

Last week in nursery was our final week of our topic 'food and growth'. We had lots of fun making pizza and even more fun eating it! We discussed what ingredients we would need to make a pizza and how to make it. We made ham and pineapple pizzas as lots of us enjoyed the pineapple in our fruit tasting lesson the best! 

We also enjoyed our first PE lesson using the climbing frame and rope swings in the hall. We also used benches to see how many different ways we could slide along them.

Ella was our star of the week as she always tries her best with everything she does! Ella took Rufus Bear home to spend the weekend with her. We look forward to hearing about all the fun things they did together next week.
